Namely, I'm seeing results after a project considered to be a long term, started to show results in the second week i.e. started to climb in SERP's.
What's the point?
The only thing that's changed in SEO since 2003 is whether you're authority or not. That's the only thing seasoned with other SEO factors.
So if you really want to make last-long online business, build authority. I'm doing that and see positive results.
How to build authority?
There are many SEO strategies on how to build authority website, and I will write about that in the next articles. Generally, authority needs time and a lot of effort but if you do it smart, it may take much less than that. Another thing to consider is if you find comfortable in your niche, and have a will to build an authority. For example, I never build website for something I don't know about. Start with you, what do you like, what's your hobbies, what do you do best and so on.Technically, you can not steal an authority from a website. However, you should search for markets where no authority website is present i.e. find a searchable phrase or keyword and optimise your site for it. There are situations where a site considered to be an authority, has bad SEO.
I will give you a clear example based on my interest and how you can convert it to your Internet Story.
Almost all the people in the world watch some sports. Half of them watch football or basketball. Let's take football.(Soccer). I love football, watch games, play it sometimes, and I'm a big football fan of a Spanish team, which is most important thing for this story.
Luckily, the team is not Real Madrid or Barcelona, neither the 3-4 teams bellow these two. But still has a decent number of searches (40 000 exact a month) from all over the world. I'm surprised that many Americans search this term.
I'll try to monetise the site with affiliate and sell football kits of the team. Even the worst possible conversion can bring a good amount of money.
When checking the competition, the only website that's my real competition is the official site which is not SEO optimised at all. I can see many negative factors, besides I personally follow that website for club news, and can say that user interaction in not on the level it should be.
The other results on first page are mainly tags or archive results from authority sport sites like goal.com or soccerway.com. On a long term basis, these tag pages are powerless in front of a website for the given search term, no matter they belong to authority football websites.
So I consider the "official site" as my only competitor and will put Google on test on here. Let's see how much on-page signals worth, and let's see how Google will react after a brand new site that's updated regularly has much better on-page optimization than the site ranked on the first spot. I won't do much off-page optimization. I'll try to naturally get backlinks as soon as traffic comes. My competitor has around 200 root domains pointing to it, and that's not a huge number taking in mind the number of searcher for the main keyword.
And social media? Well, I'll use Google Plus, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest as well as 10-15 social bookmark channels.
I want to check the value of good on-page optimization, time needed to build an authority on this way, and calculate the proportion of ranking factors, when it comes to Search Engine Optimization.
I know that domain age matters maybe most today, and that's a big advantage of my competitor, but that's the point, to compete, to test, to measure, to develop strategies, and duplicate good work. Let's see if we can "steal authority to a website."
